Well...three years later, I realize my reaffirmation to blogging was just a fleeting thought back then...

Little would I know that 2011 would be a life-changer for me.  I lost my boyfriend Martin to a major heart attack in November of that year and a fog descended down on me that that I didn't know was there until it began to lift two years later.  There are still moments that hit, like when I'm out buying a new kitchen light to replace the one we bought together ... and I can't find the right one I know he would agree with me on, or when someone we both knew died, or something funny happens that would mean something significant to both of us...sometimes it makes me want to tell him about something that changed...and I realize he's been gone for so long that it would take me a very long time to "catch him up" on the news ... and sometimes he visits me in dreams and there is never enough time to tell him everything, but sometimes he just knows...

I had a psychic tell me that he knows I'm doing what I need to in order to survive, and that when I'm ready, he'll send me someone to love...and I think he did that just about two months ago.  He sent me Tom.  Tom who is so alike Martin, but yet so opposite -- he's everything I needed from Martin, but was not in Martin's personality to be...I truly feel like Tom was sent to me to be my companion and my new best guy friend.  He loves me and my dog and my family as crazy as they are and understands me, when my voice goes up two octaves when I can't find my socks...not because I can't find them, but because I'm stressing over something different entirely.  We have had so many of the same experiences that we have said more than once "We are the same person!"

Looking back on my older posts, I seemed depressed, down all the time, struggling.  I feel much happier, lighter and different.  I have lost 80 pounds.  I am almost done with getting my MBA.  I'm doing things that make me happy.

I think its time to get back to blogging.  I have a story to tell.  My story.

Blog relaunch: Coffee and Cupcakes

Its been a little more than a year since I "really" posted on my blog...heck, I haven't had time to read my list of blogs or even think about blogging for some got busy, I discovered Farmville, Cafe World and Frontierville on FaceBook ... man, that app really sucks up a LOT of time!

So in the spirit of the new year and new resolutions, I've renamed my blog and am making a fresh start...waking up at 3:00am to reevaluate your life for hours definitely makes you realize what your priorities should be and what makes you happy.

So aside from the usual "lose weight", "get out of debt", "learn something new" resolutions, I'm going to rededicate myself to my blog...and my blog friends.  So today, my friends is the first day of the Coffee and Cupcakes blog (what I usually need when I'm tired, bored or happy)...its not just about food or beverages, its a sometimes strong, sometimes sweet look at what makes me smile, what's frustrating me, a little creativity, a little foodie, a little....we'll see!

Holidays over ... phew!

Thank GOD the holidays are OVER! They are fun, exhausting and busy for me...

Here are some highlights:

Got the tree up with all my snowmen and the outside decorated, added a few new things outside and delighted our neighbor's girls. Had no major incidents with the new dog and the fresh pine tree (LOL). Mollie got to meet her cousin Chloe, and they had their moments together.

Went to NYC to have dinner with Val and Grace, saw the tree, 5th Avenue windows and got cupcakes at Magnolia bakery. Had an awesome time even though it was a small group, and we had a disaster with Mary nearly barfing on the train (she made it to Grand Central before turning around and going home).

My sister and her two girls came to visit, it was a fast trip but we got to have NY Pizza (Sinapi's), Fiesta Mexican dinner, quick trip to NYC to see the tree and have lunch at Jekyl & Hyde, shopping at Yogi's Paw and just having the cousins and sisters spend time together.

Now on to thinking of my one-word for 2010 and all the things I want to do this year...more on THAT later...
Happy 2010!

Guitar Hero Fanatic!

Former Disney Imagineer and special effects wizard Ric Turner knows how to make the holidays fun for people of all ages! The genius installed 21,268 lights and LEDs and turned his entire front yard into a game of Guitar Hero!

Watch the video (above) as a little boy rocks Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover. All you gotta do is ring the doorbell to start the game!

Merry Christmas, nerds!

I have to be near you -- like right on your desk while you are working!

Or better yet, right on your keyboard!

Whoa! Its slippery on this floor!

Those white slippers started it!

What I have been up to lately....

  • I went to Mohegan Sun with Grace (didn't win any money, only lost $20)
  • We ate at the buffet
  • Had drinks at Margaritaville

  • Saw No Doubt in concert (AWESOME!)

  • I hung some awesome chandelier vinyl that was a birthday gift from Grace in my office

  • I ordered my silver Tom's shoes online...

and aside from dealing with rain and bad cable.....I worked!

Like riding a bicycle....

So today I had to travel into the office for the wild and wierd experience of "going to work" because our cable company has a major outage and my modem wouldn't connect for the third day in a row...I can't remember the last time I was here...probably more than 4 years ago when I was moving back from Virginia, living in Martin's studio apartment until our townhouse was ready...

Some odd things that came right back to me:
  • My favorite cubical is CA165, Ext. 6011 - not too far from the copier/printer and ladies room but remote enough in the room that I'm "incognito" and can't be heard on the phone
  • I still had my printer installed, and WOW! systems printers are fast, quiet and better quality than my home ink jet.
  • Its eerily quiet in the mobility center - all you can hear is the quite drone of the too cold air conditioning...and a faint buzz from those around me.
  • There is so much room to stretch out and "organize" and nothing to distract me like TV, the doorbell or laundry.
  • The cafeteria food still isn't as good as the local deli, although they do carry Dunkin' Donuts coffee now.
  • It stinks to have to get "dressed" but I still wore my flip flops and hid my feet under the desk.

I'm HOPING that the cable is restored and I can go back to comfy flannel pants and a t-shirt and flip flops tomorrow...just as productive...hey, I'm just sayin'....
